A 44-year-old man was filmed throwing rocks at police during a violent protest in Middlesbrough, leading to his arrest and a 25-month prison sentence.
The chaos erupted during a far-right protest in the town center. Hundreds were there, but things turned violent quickly. Police arrested many people that day.
Prosecutor Rachel Masters described the scene. Missiles were thrown, cars were set on fire, and windows were smashed. Taylor was spotted at a busy junction around 4 PM.
An officer identified Taylor easily. He was standing on street furniture, throwing rocks. The officer had to raise his shield to protect himself.
Footage showed Taylor trying to set fire to a wheelie bin. He has 141 convictions for 320 offenses and was arrested the next day.
Police were called to a disturbance at Aldi. Taylor was verbally abusive to security guards, causing panic among staff. Officers detained him after he approached a guard on the ground.
Initially, Taylor pleaded not guilty to violent disorder but later changed his plea to guilty. His lawyer said he acted foolishly in the heat of the moment.
Taylor, from Worcester Street, received a 25-month prison sentence for his actions.
