A man was caught using a hidden camera to film a woman in a bathroom. He used Blu Tack to attach the device, shocking the victim and leading to his arrest.
The court heard that the camera was meant to film a woman using the loo. She was the only one who used that bathroom and was understandably shocked when she found it.
This incident happened on August 9, 2023. The woman discovered the camera and immediately reported it to the police. They quickly arrested Thompson after investigating.
Prosecutor Sara Kemp explained that the camera had captured some images, including Thompson’s face while he was setting it up. Thankfully, no explicit recordings were made.
Thompson, who has no prior convictions, admitted to voyeurism in court. The woman shared that the incident deeply affected her life and made her feel unsafe.
In court, it was noted that Thompson showed remorse and pleaded guilty early on. He received an 18-month community order, which includes 150 hours of unpaid work and £750 in compensation to the victim.
He will also be under sex offender notification requirements for five years.
