Teesville: A 17-year-old boy was arrested after a car fire left a family trapped in their garden. The incident happened late at night on January 27.

The family, who wished to stay anonymous, was asleep when the fire started. The dental nurse, 22, heard a noise and saw flames outside her window.

She was home with her boyfriend, mother, and two younger siblings. They opened the front door but couldn’t escape because the car was blocking their way.

Firefighters arrived quickly, and thankfully, no one was hurt. The police confirmed the teen was arrested on suspicion of arson and has been released on bail.

The family described the terrifying moment. The mother said they felt trapped until help arrived. Flames were dangerously close to their house.

Firefighters warned them that their home was minutes away from catching fire. The family is shaken but relieved they were awake to see the fire in time.
