Connemara faces ongoing power issues post-Storm Eowyn. A Galway family lost their home; a fundraiser aims to aid repairs and recovery.
One person in Galway had a terrible experience: Will Avery’s family home got partially destroyed. The storm had super strong winds, reaching 181 kilometers per hour. The wind ripped off his roof and damaged many other buildings.
Will is a well-known brewer from Georgia who lived all over the world before settling in Galway.
After the storm, his friends stepped up and created a GoFundMe page for him. The goal is to fix everything and get him back home.
The GoFundMe explained Will’s situation; the storm damaged lots of homes in Ireland. Record winds tore roofs off, including Will’s. Sadly, his insurance won’t cover the repairs because they said his old roof couldn’t be insured.
The roof could cost over €20,000 just to repair. The house’s inside also got damaged, including ceilings and wires.
His friends are asking for any help people can give Will.
The GoFundMe’s goal is €20,000. This amount will only cover the roof repairs and does not include fixing the other storm damages. Luckily, people acted fast and gave a lot; in just a day, they raised almost €2,000.
