Sligo: A popular takeaway in Sligo has been shut down. The Food Safety Authority of Ireland announced the closure order for The Turk Grill.

This order was issued on January 16 by the Health Service Executive. The restaurant is located on Grattan Street.

As of now, The Turk Grill has not reopened. Google confirms that it is temporarily closed.

In 2024, there was a 44% increase in closure orders compared to last year. A total of 133 orders were issued this year, up from 92 in 2023.

The FSAI emphasizes that restaurants must ensure food safety and maintain clean, pest-free environments.

Dr. Pamela Byrne, Chief Executive of FSAI, stated that the rise in enforcement orders is concerning. She noted that consumers deserve safe food and that negligence is unacceptable.

Enforcement orders are serious and are issued only when there is a significant risk to health. They are not for minor issues.

Pest control problems were common in 2024. All food businesses need to have strong pest control measures to protect consumer health.

While most food businesses follow the rules, recurring issues are avoidable. These breaches can harm consumer trust and safety.
