The jury is now considering the fate of Simon Vickers, accused of murdering his daughter Scarlett in their Darlington home last year
Scarlett died from a stab wound at their home last July. Simon, 50, has pleaded not guilty to both murder and manslaughter. The trial is taking place at Teesside Crown Court.
During the trial, the prosecutor laid out the case against Simon. He argued that Simon intentionally stabbed Scarlett in the heart. The prosecutor insisted that it couldn’t have been an accident.
Simon’s defense lawyer, however, argued that there was no intent to harm. He painted a picture of a loving family with no issues. The defense claims that whatever happened was not a deliberate act.
Before the jury went to deliberate, the judge summarized the evidence presented. This included testimonies from police and forensic experts. Now, it’s up to the jury to decide Simon’s fate.
