A new robotic assistant is here to help knee surgery patients at a Teesside hospital, enhancing precision and care during operations
Teesside: A robotic surgical assistant is now at the University Hospital of Hartlepool. This cool tech is set to help patients needing knee replacements.
The hospital just got the ROSA robot. It helps surgeons place implants more accurately during surgery. This means better outcomes for patients.
North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust has already used robotic tech at the University Hospital of North Tees. The Da Vinci robot has been a game-changer, improving accuracy and reducing pain.
Last week, consultant orthopaedic surgeon Anwar Jafri and his team started using the ROSA system. He expressed excitement about offering this to the community.
Mr. Jafri mentioned that the robot will help tailor treatments for each patient. It also aids in planning and positioning implants with great precision.
Sarah Waite, the theatre robotic matron, is thrilled about this new addition. She noted that it complements other advanced technologies they already use.
One of those is the mymobility app, which helps patients manage their care before and after surgery. It’s a handy tool for education and support.
Last year, the Hartlepool site earned surgical hub accreditation from NHS England. This allows them to perform more non-urgent surgeries, like hip and knee replacements.
