A Middlesbrough primary school shines in its latest Ofsted report, with special praise for its beloved school dog, Stanley, and its supportive community.
The school’s curriculum celebrates Middlesbrough’s heritage. Plus, the kids’ behavior? Exceptional! Last time they were inspected was in 2019, and they were rated “good.” Now, they’re keeping up those high standards.
The inspector visited in October and noted the strong relationships between staff and students. The kids respond well to the high expectations set by their teachers. They have positive attitudes and achieve great results.
The report also highlighted the variety of clubs and activities available. Pupils with special needs are thriving, and those learning English get the support they need. However, there’s room for improvement in teaching writing skills.
The inspector mentioned the school dog, Stanley, too. Pupils adore him and find comfort in his presence. He even teaches them about pet ownership responsibilities.
Executive headteacher Liz King expressed her pride in the school community. She said the caring nature of the pupils shines through. Hugh Hegarty, the CEO of the academy trust, praised the staff for their hard work.
It’s clear that St Joseph’s is a special place for learning and growing.
