A mother is devastated after her son died in a motorcycle accident while trying to show her his new ride
On that fateful day, Rhys and his friend were working on their bikes. They were excited to go for a ride. Rhys wanted to impress his mum. But then, one bike broke down. Rhys called his stepdad for help.
When they arrived, they realized the bike couldn’t be fixed. So, Rhys borrowed a friend’s motorbike to ride back home. His stepdad followed him in a van, keeping an eye on him.
Everything seemed fine until Rhys disappeared around a bend. When his stepdad caught up, he found Rhys had crashed. Despite the paramedics’ efforts, Rhys sadly passed away at the scene.
During the inquest, Becky shared her heartbreak. She mentioned how Rhys had developed a passion for motorbikes after moving to Durham. She even helped him with his bike parts.
Becky believed Rhys might have had undiagnosed ADHD or autism. She recalled how excited he was to show her his riding skills. But that excitement turned into tragedy.
Witnesses and investigations showed Rhys was riding safely. There were no signs of reckless behavior. The coroner concluded that Rhys’s death was accidental.
His family is left with a deep sense of loss. They struggle to accept that Rhys is gone. It’s a heartbreaking reminder of how quickly life can change.
