Weather experts predict a significant polar vortex disruption, leading to prolonged winter conditions and potential cold spells in the coming weeks
In mid-February, the polar vortex might split. This could mean chilly days will stick around longer than we’d like. It’s not looking good for an early spring.
Severe Weather EU shared an update, warning us to stay tuned for more details. They’re keeping a close eye on this situation.
Meteorologist Daniel, known as The Snow Dreamer, mentioned a possible stratospheric warming in February. He believes this could lead to a major disruption in the polar vortex, affecting our weather.
The latest charts hint at the return of the “Beast from the East.” This could bring a cold spell in the next month.
MetJeffUK also warned us to keep up with updates, as this could be serious.
Expert Cathal Nolan noted that while Europe isn’t seeing a lot of very cold air, we might experience sharp night frosts and drier conditions soon.
He added that the polar vortex split combined with sudden stratospheric warming could lead to colder weather, but nothing is guaranteed.
Here’s what to expect in the next few days according to Met Eireann:
**Today**: It starts wet in many areas, but it will clear up later. Expect sunny skies by late morning. There might be some drizzle along the Atlantic coasts in the evening. Highs will be around 8 to 9 degrees.
**Tonight**: It will be mostly dry, with some drizzle near the Atlantic. It will be coldest under clear skies, with lows of 5 to 8 degrees. Winds will pick up a bit.
**Tomorrow**: Monday will be breezy with scattered rain and drizzle moving in. The east will stay dry during the day, with a mix of clouds and sun. Highs will reach 10 to 12 degrees in strong southerly winds.
