Cork: Met Eireann has issued a red warning for four counties. Storm Eowyn is on its way, and it’s expected to be pretty intense.

Winds could reach over 130 km/h. That’s why Cork, Kerry, Limerick, and Clare are under a Status Red Wind Warning. This warning kicks in on Friday at 3 am and lasts until 10 am.

They’re saying to expect gale-force winds that could cause serious damage. Storm Eowyn is the fifth named storm this season, and it’s not looking good.

The impacts could be dangerous. We’re talking about risky travel, event cancellations, and even power outages. Coastal areas might see flooding too.

While those four counties are on red alert, the rest of the country will have a Status Orange Wind Warning from 2 am to 5 pm on Friday.

Here’s a quick timeline: strong winds will start moving in late Thursday night. By 3 am Friday, winds will be strong everywhere. The worst winds will peak between 4 am and 10 am.

Liz Coleman from Met Eireann said to expect wet and windy conditions, especially in the west. She warned about dangerous travel and possible power outages.

Wave overtopping is also a concern at high tide, and localized flooding could happen into Saturday. Stay safe out there!
