Galway: Ireland’s airports are gearing up for Storm Eowyn. The storm is moving across the Atlantic and is expected to hit the west coast hard.

Winds could reach up to 200 km/h. Because of this, public transport is being canceled. Some roads, car parks, and facilities will close starting Thursday evening.

Three major airports are warning travelers to expect delays. They’re keeping a close eye on the situation and suggest checking flight statuses regularly.

Ryanair and Aer Lingus have both said there will be significant delays. They recommend checking their apps for any updates. Ryanair mentioned immediate disruptions due to fog and low visibility.

Aer Lingus also advised passengers to expect delays on Friday. They’re urging everyone to plan for extra travel time to and from the airports.

Shannon Airport is currently operating normally but is preparing for potential disruptions once the storm hits.

A spokesperson said they’re ready for the storm and are monitoring the situation closely. They also advised passengers to stay in touch with their airlines for the latest updates.

Meanwhile, Ireland West Airport at Knock is telling passengers to check with their airlines for the latest flight information.

They noted a Status Red wind warning for Leitrim, Mayo, and Sligo, effective Friday morning. Passengers should stay updated as the situation evolves.

Dublin Airport described the situation as evolving and advised travelers to check local conditions. They also suggested allowing extra time for travel due to possible road delays.

Met Éireann has issued a nationwide Status Red Wind Warning starting early Friday morning. The National Emergency Co-ordination Group is coordinating the response.

Warnings are in place for various counties at different times throughout Friday. An Garda Síochána is urging everyone to shelter in place during the red warning times.

They advise people to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel. Dangerous sea conditions are expected, so it’s best to stay away from coastlines.

Everyone is encouraged to prepare for the storm today. Secure any loose items around your property and check on vulnerable neighbors.

Once the red warning passes, be cautious when going out. There may be fallen trees and other hazards on the roads.

Remember to slow down and stay safe. The public safety advice during the red warning is clear: shelter in place.
