Reykjavik: Iceland has issued a warning about a mix-up with Greggs products. It seems some Steak Bakes were incorrectly packaged. This could be a big deal for folks with food allergies.

The Food Standards Agency found that some packs of Steak Bakes might actually contain Sausage, Bean and Cheese Melts. These contain sulphites, which aren’t listed on the Steak Bake packaging. That’s a problem for anyone sensitive to sulphur dioxide.

Only the 280g two-pack Steak Bakes with a best before date of May 19, 2025, are affected. Iceland has confirmed that no other products or dates are involved.

If you bought these mislabelled packs, don’t eat them! Just return them to your nearest Iceland store for a full refund. If you need more info, you can call Greggs’ customer care at +44 08081 473 447 or email them.

Sulphites are found in some foods and are used as preservatives. They can cause reactions in sensitive individuals. Anaphylaxis UK explains that food sensitivity isn’t the same as a food allergy, but it can still lead to serious symptoms.

Common reactions to sulphites include wheezing, chest tightness, and stomach issues. If you experience any of these after eating, it’s best to seek help.
