Galway: The city is on the hunt for Dog Wardens. They want folks to help out at the Galway City Pound. It’s a great gig if you love dogs.

The council announced they’re hiring and offering training too. The pay is pretty competitive, ranging from €29,811 to €46,945. Not too shabby, right?

If you’re interested, make sure to get your application in by 4:00 PM on February 6, 2025. You’ll need to send it to the Human Resources Department.

The Dog Pound is located in the Ballybane Industrial Estate. From there, the new wardens will help keep the pound running smoothly. They’ll also work to reunite lost dogs with their owners.

Part of the job includes helping with stray dogs and finding them homes. It’s not all fun and games, though. Sometimes, they’ll need to help put dogs to sleep humanely when necessary.

The wardens will also work with the city’s vet to care for dogs that are found or surrendered. They’ll enforce local laws about dog breeds and licensing too.

Keeping track of licensed animals is another responsibility. They’ll also issue notices to dog owners when needed. Plus, they’ll make sure to enforce rules about dog waste in public areas.

If you get the job, you’ll receive training in dog handling and health and safety. Sounds like a fulfilling role for dog lovers in Galway!
