Plans are in motion to transform the Langley Hotel in Whitby into holiday lets, pending approval from the local council
Whitby: The Langley Hotel might soon become holiday lets if North Yorkshire Council gives the green light. Lodestone Projects Ltd wants to turn it into 12 one-bedroom holiday suites.
This hotel, located at 16 Royal Crescent, is in the West Cliff area. It’s also part of Whitby’s conservation area, which is pretty cool. The hotel was listed for sale in 2023 for £850,000 and had a five-star rating on Tripadvisor.
However, the building needs some TLC. The roof is in bad shape and needs replacing. The plans include fixing the rooflights too. The goal is to modernize the place while keeping its charm.
The proposal includes a property management plan. They promise 24-hour support over the phone and a local team for maintenance. They want to make sure everything runs smoothly for guests.
They plan to tweak the layout a bit. The idea is to convert the hotel rooms and common areas into cozy suites with a bedroom, ensuite, and a little seating area. Sounds nice, right?
The applicant believes these renovations will help preserve the building. They want to make it appealing to holidaymakers and secure its future on that lovely street.
