Sammy Ameobi has admitted to a hit and run after crashing his car into a teenager’s vehicle, leading to injuries and a police investigation.
Ameobi, 32, crashed his Audi E-Tron into a teenager’s Citroen during rush hour. He left the scene, leaving the 19-year-old in a tough spot. Her family said she was thrown into oncoming traffic and suffered injuries. She was quickly taken to the hospital, and her car was totaled.
The police tracked him down after the victim’s mom made a public appeal. She shared the unique SAMM11Y plate from his car. They also used CCTV footage to find him. Turns out, he didn’t have valid insurance for the luxury vehicle.
When questioned, Ameobi said he panicked because he had just started a new job. He claimed he was worried about his son, who had a health scare the night before.
In court, he pleaded guilty to failing to stop after the accident and driving without insurance. He was fined £240 and got six penalty points on his license.
Ameobi, who had a solid career in football, expressed regret for his actions. He said it was out of character and admitted he should have handled things differently. He had been with Newcastle United before moving on to other teams, including Middlesbrough.
This incident has certainly put a damper on his reputation. Let’s hope he learns from this experience and moves forward positively.
