Five-year-old Evie Green enjoyed a special day in Edinburgh with her family after receiving a heart transplant, creating joyful memories together.
Evie, just five years old, has been through a lot. She was born with myocarditis, which made her heart struggle to pump blood. By age four, she needed a heart transplant. After a long wait and a tough year in the hospital, she finally got her new heart last summer.
While Evie was in the hospital, her family received support from The Charlie and Carter Foundation. This charity helps families of seriously ill kids, easing their financial worries. Lumo chose this charity as their partner for 2024/25 and organized a special trip to Edinburgh for Evie and her family.
Their day was packed with fun! They visited Edinburgh Zoo, explored Camera Obscura, and even got a ride in Lumo’s driver’s cab. It was a day filled with laughter and joy.
Sarah Cookson, co-founder of the charity, thanked Lumo for making this trip possible. She said it was a chance for Evie and her family to create precious memories after such a tough time.
Evie’s mom, Chloe, expressed her gratitude too. She said they had a fantastic time exploring Edinburgh and were thankful for the special day out.
Martijn Gilbert, Lumo’s Managing Director, was thrilled to help. He said it was a joy to give Evie and her family a memorable day after all they’ve been through. He also praised the charity for their incredible work supporting families like Evie’s.
