Chris Rea’s iconic Mini is up for auction, with proceeds supporting domestic abuse charity Refuge
Chris wrote that classic during a tough drive back to Middlesbrough in 1978. His wife, Joan, was behind the wheel for five long hours, stuck in traffic.
To honor Chris, BMW-MINI created a unique Mini for him, which is now being auctioned for charity. The 1989 Rover Mini Thirty has been converted to electric power. It even has a plaque with Chris’ signature and lyrics from his song displayed in a cool vinyl disc design.
The auction will benefit Refuge, a charity that supports domestic violence victims. Chris expressed pride in seeing his Mini auctioned for such an important cause. He hopes it raises awareness and funds for those in need.
The auction is set for February 22 at Race Retro in Warwickshire. The guide price is between £30,000 and £35,000. If you want to check it out, viewing is available on February 21.
