A driver with a long history of offenses has been sentenced after a police chase in Middlesbrough
On November 13, he decided to flee from the police in his VW Golf. They spotted him because his number plate didn’t match the car’s color. When the police turned on their sirens, he took off.
Richards sped down Ormesby Bank and Cargo Fleet Lane, hitting 70 mph. But it didn’t end well. He crashed into a lamp post shortly after.
In court, he admitted to dangerous driving, not providing a specimen, and driving while disqualified. He’s got 12 previous convictions for taking vehicles without consent and other serious offenses.
His lawyer mentioned that Richards has had a tough time in prison since November, being moved around a lot. But the judge wasn’t lenient. He sentenced Richards to 18 months in jail and banned him from driving for over four years.
It’s a wild story, but it’s a reminder of the consequences of reckless driving.
