Cyclone Eowyn is set to bring strong winds to Ireland this weekend, with the worst impacts expected in the northwest and Northern Ireland
As we get closer to the weekend, the weather models are becoming clearer. They now suggest that the storm will take a more easterly path than previously thought. This means the strongest winds could really batter parts of Ireland.
Weather Alerts Ireland has warned that we might see some damaging gusts. They mentioned that the storm’s center is shifting east, which could mean stronger winds for us. The UK’s Chilterns Weather Alerts also noted that we’re in the calm before the storm, with winds possibly exceeding 100 km/h.
Northern Ireland and parts of northwest Ireland are expected to feel the brunt of it. The latest data shows that these areas, along with parts of Scotland, are in for a rough time. Thankfully, it seems like England and Wales might dodge the worst of it, though it will still be windy along the coasts.
In the meantime, Met Eireann has shared the forecast for the next few days. Today, we can expect some mist and fog to clear, leading to sunny spells and scattered showers. Temperatures will be between 6 and 9 degrees.
Tonight, we’ll see some clear spells, but don’t be surprised if mist and fog roll in again. It could get chilly, with temperatures dropping to around -1 to +3 degrees. Tomorrow looks similar, with more sunny spells and scattered showers, but it will be breezy.
Stay safe out there, and keep an eye on the weather updates as Cyclone Eowyn approaches!
