A man was sentenced for breaking his cat’s leg after losing his temper. The cat, named Kirby, is now safe and has been rehomed after surgery.
The force was so strong that Kirby needed surgery to amputate his right hind leg. This happened on December 4, 2023, after Garner woke up to find the mess.
At court, Garner received a 12-month community order for his actions. He also can’t own animals for ten years. The vet described Kirby as “petrified” when he arrived for treatment.
Garner admitted he couldn’t afford the vet bills and agreed to let the clinic take care of Kirby. The vet confirmed Kirby’s leg was broken in two places.
After surgery, Kirby was cared for by the RSPCA and later rehomed. Inspector Hutton stated that Kirby suffered unacceptable violence.
Kirby, now named Mooney, has adjusted well to life with three legs. His new family says he is thriving and full of energy. They are grateful for the joy he brings to their lives.
