Galway: Storm Eowyn is about to hit Ireland hard. Winds could reach over 200 km/h. The Met Office is warning everyone to prepare for a wild ride.
This storm is undergoing something called explosive cyclogenesis. Sounds fancy, right? Basically, it means the storm is getting super intense really fast.
All 26 counties in the Republic of Ireland are under a red warning. That’s serious stuff! The winds are expected to be destructive, especially in the west.
According to the Met Office, the air pressure is dropping quickly. It’s currently at 1001 hPa but will drop by 62 hPa soon. This is what makes the storm so powerful.

So, when will it hit? Strong winds will start moving in late Thursday night. By 3 am Friday, everyone will feel the impact.
The strongest winds will peak between 4 am and 10 am on Friday. It’s going to be a rough morning for sure!
Met Eireann’s red warning for Galway kicks in at 3 am on Friday and lasts until noon. They’re warning of severe gusts over 130 km/h.
